Police update on arrested woman as firefighters cut into flipped car

The incident occurred at around 3.30am on Sunday morning as police were called to Windmill Road in Headington.

Officers encountered a single vehicle crash, which saw a car completely flip onto its roof

A female passenger suffered an injury to her hand and was hospitalised, where she remains now.

Thames Valley Police arrested the driver of the car, a woman in her 30s and the force has now confirmed today (Monday, March 31) that the woman was been released under investigation at this time.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were also called, and firefighters had to cut into the car.

A spokesperson for the service said: “Two fire engines were called at 3.33am to the incident outside 13 Windmill Road, Oxford.

“Cutting equipment was used to release the occupant from the vehicle. The teams left the scene at 4.28am.

“Thames Valley Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.”

The police force previously said: “At around 3.30am this morning, officers attended Windmill Road, to the scene of a collision involving a single vehicle.

“A passenger in the vehicle suffered an injury to her hand, she remains in hospital at this time.

“A woman in her thirties who was driving the vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She remains in custody.

“An investigation is ongoing”.

This was the second crash in the area in just one hour, as another car had crashed into Finders Keepers estate agents on London Road earlier.
