Ten bear spray incidents addressed by Saskatoon police over the weekend

The Saskatoon Police Service said 10 bear spray incidents took place over the weekend.

Police were called to a liquor store in the 2200 block of 22nd Street West on Saturday around 1 a.m.
Officers got a report that three youth had tried to steal liquor, fired bear spray at an employee when they were confronted, and fled on foot.
Another incident took place around 5:30 p.m. on the same day at The Centre Mall along 8th Street East.

Officers received a report that a large group of people set off bear spray, later learning that two groups had been firing bear spray at each other while running through the mall. Suspects and victims had fled when police arrived.
Police were also called to Midtown Mall around noon on Monday after it was reported that security had been shot with bear spray after escorting a group of four people out of the building. The suspects ran, but officers arrested them a short distance away.
Police say the suspects had bear spray and a collapsible baton on them.
SPS said four suspects, ages ranging from 15 to 17 years old, were charged with weapons-related offences. The 16 year old was also charged with assault with a weapon, and a 15 year old was released without charges.
