One food can help you to burn fat more easily that any other on the planet, according to one doctor. Many of us struggle to eat the ‘right’ foods, especially when trying to lose weight, and the internet can feel full of contradictory advice on what foods do or don’t help with weight loss.

Luckily, Dr Eric Berg, who specialises in intermittent fasting and healthy ketosis, has shared one food that he says is the ‘world’s number one’ in terms of burning fat. The social media doctor boasts over 17 million YouTube subscribers and over a million TikTok followers, and he often shares food health advice online.

He posted a video on his TikTok page that explains which food is the best for fat burning, saying: “The number one fat-burning food in the world is not celery, it’s not chili peppers, it’s not even a vegetable.

“The number one fat-burning food in the world is grass-fed meat.”

Healthline explains that grass-fed meat is meat from animals, usually cows, that have been raised on a diet consisting entirely of grass.

This is different from the meat of grain-fed animals, which are typically fed a diet of grains and supplements to make them grow bigger and faster.

Grass-fed meat is a more natural and sustainable farming approach, which many believe offers health benefits over eating grain-fed meat or beef.

The Mayo Clinic explains on its website that grass-fed meat can indeed help burn fat due to its lower fat content and higher levels of beneficial fats like omega-3 and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).

The health expert added: “This food is nutrient-dense, highly thermogenic, which means the actual digestion of it burns a lot of calories, and it actually feeds your metabolism.”

Grass-fed meat offers a richer nutrient profile compared to grain-fed meat, according to Healthline. This is because it contains higher levels of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants.

It is also a good source of protein, B vitamins (B12, B6, niacin), and minerals like zinc, iron, and phosphorus.

Science Direct says that grass-fed meat, particularly beef, is often praised for its metabolic benefits.

Metabolism is the process by which your body converts food and drink into energy, and it plays a significant role in weight management.

A faster metabolism means your body burns more calories, both at rest and during activity, making it easier to lose weight.

But a slower metabolism means you burn fewer calories, potentially leading to weight gain or difficulty losing weight.

Some of the metabolic benefits of eating grass-fed meat include its potential to improve glucose metabolism, enhance oxidative metabolism, and overall, support healthy weight management.
